Odisha A tragic accident took place near Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital in Mayurbhanj district. A massive explosion occurred after an ambulance caught fire while a patient was being taken for treatment to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. The patient died in this accident, while two other people were seriously injured. The deceased has been identified as Suyash Kumar Barik, a resident of Kundabai area. He was suffering from a serious problem like blood infection and was being taken to Bhubaneswar for better treatment.
The roof of the ambulance fell 40 feet away
According to the information, an ambulance of a private operator was hired to transport the patient. On the way, near Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital, the ambulance driver opened the valve of the oxygen cylinder to give oxygen to the patient. Meanwhile, the ambulance caught fire and there was a massive explosion. It is being told that the explosion was so strong that the roof of the ambulance jumped and fell about 40 feet away. Within a short time the fire engulfed the entire ambulance. As soon as the ambulance caught fire, there was chaos on the spot. The patient’s family somehow pulled him out of the burning ambulance. However, by then he was badly burnt. He died within minutes of the accident.

Two other people have also been seriously injured in this incident. He was admitted to the hospital for treatment. As soon as information about the incident was received, the fire department team reached the spot and after much effort brought the fire under control. Due to the blast, panic spread among the patients, their families and employees present in and around the hospital premises. This ambulance belonged to a private operator. A case has been registered in connection with the incident. At present the reasons for the accident are being investigated. The investigation will try to find out how the fire broke out while opening the valve of the oxygen cylinder and under what circumstances the explosion occurred.
