Today (Thursday) too, lunch was scheduled at Connaught Place, so Delhi Police created a complete cordon. Inside the restaurant, strategy was being made over lunch, outside the police were on alert. Opposition representative MPs were present inside the Moet Hotel. Abhishek Banerjee was from Mamata faction of Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress, Manoj Jha was from Rashtriya Janata Dal. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge all reached Moet Hotel for lunch. Along with lunch, strategy was being made inside the Moet Hotel. And the gathering of workers outside was increasing. There was suspense as to what Rahul was going to do today after two days of protest.

After lunch, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Abhishek Banerjee, Manoj Jha all came out and it was announced that neither there would be a dharna at the EC office, nor Jantar Mantar would be gheraoed but a peaceful demonstration would be held at Rajghat. There will be a strike. Rahul Gandhi also sat in the Congress bus and other MPs also sat. Congress workers carrying the tricolor in their hands were ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s bus and the Congress bus following behind, headed towards Rajghat.
Congress adamant on resignation of Gyanesh Kumar
The demand of Congressmen is clear that Gyanesh Kumar should resign. Rahul Gandhi has been fighting on the streets for three days. Went out on foot on October 6 but was stopped by the police. Even on 7th October, when he went out on foot, the police detained him and on 8th August, Rahul Gandhi left in a bus. Three buses of Congress and opposition MPs left for Rajghat via Minto Road, but some Congress workers tried to enter the road where BJP office lies on this route. But Delhi Police had already made tight security arrangements on the road to the BJP office.
On October 6, Rahul-Priyanka had given the police a trick.
On one side, NSUI and Congress workers were already sitting on strike in Rajghat. Sloganeering was going on. Demonstration was taking place with posters and banners. On the other hand, Rahul-Priyanka’s bus with the Congress crowd was moving towards Rajghat. But like on October 6, Rahul-Priyanka dodged the police and sat on a dharna in Akashvani Bhawan for 8 hours. In such a situation, there was suspense on where this bus would turn and where it would stop.
Demonstration took place in front of Congress headquarters also
Delhi Police personnel were heavily deployed at Rajghat also, Congress workers were already there. Congress workers were continuously raising slogans inside the Congress bus demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. On one side, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were all reaching Rajghat. Thousands of workers were with Rahul Priyanka’s bus, but on the other hand, BJP Mahila Morcha workers started protesting in front of the Congress headquarters. Front of women and men police force was deployed here also. BJP Mahila Morcha workers were raising slogans against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. They were protesting with placards and banners.
Permission to stay at Rajghat was for 1 hour
Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge along with thousands of workers reached Bapu’s Samadhi site at Rajghat. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge got permission to go inside Rajghat. They went inside to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Rahul, Priyanka all paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu’s Samadhi. Delhi Police had given one hour permission to Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge as well as all the opposition leaders in Rajghat and after that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi left Rajghat, after which one by one all the opposition India Bloc MPs also left Rajghat and today’s protest ended.
