CM Vijay’s strong speech in Dharapuram, said- ‘Come into politics not to become a king, but to serve the people’

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, during an election rally in Dharapuram, said that his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam i.e. TVK has come into politics to serve the people and not for the rule of any monarchy or family. He said that the public has given the responsibility of power to TVK in the 2026 assembly elections and his government will maintain this trust. Vijay was campaigning in support of the party candidate in the Dharapuram assembly by-election. Voting is to be held in Dharapuram on October 6 and counting of votes is to be held on October 9.

‘Some people feel that we have forgotten the public’s decision’

Vijay said that some people feel that his party has forgotten the mandate given by the people in the 2026 elections. He said,

‘Some people think that we have forgotten that in the 2026 elections, the public voted for Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam and sent the DMK out of power. He still feels that he is the Chief Minister, his family is in power and the public is still under the control of his family.

‘We don’t have any monarchical thoughts in our mind’

Vijay said that within a short time of the formation of the government, many promises made to the public are being fulfilled. He said,

‘But we have no thoughts of monarchy or king’s rule in our mind. We have come into politics for the public and want to repay our debt of gratitude to the public. People have placed a lot of trust in us and we will definitely maintain that trust.

Let us tell you that recently Vijay had created a lot of discussion when he fulfilled his promise and gifted a 22 carat gold ring to the newborn children.

‘Resolve to have an administration free from corruption and bribery’

Referring to the working of his government, the Chief Minister said that the government is working with full commitment to keep the administration free from corruption and bribery. Vijay said,

‘From the day our government assumed office, we have been working with full commitment to ensure an administration free from corruption and bribery.’

Giving information about the government’s schemes and decisions, Vijay said that 717 TASMAC liquor shops located near schools and religious places have been closed. He said that the government has focused on speedy implementation of the promises made to the people.

Free electricity up to 200 units, ‘Singapen’ for women’s safety

The Chief Minister said that up to 200 units of free electricity is being provided in the state. A special task force named ‘Singapen’ has been formed for the safety of women. Under this, 2,546 new posts have been created. According to Vijay, the purpose of this arrangement is to strengthen action and monitoring in matters related to women’s safety. Vijay said that special units have been formed in 37 districts and 9 municipal corporations of the state to take action against drugs. He said that a total of 65 teams are working to stop drug related activities.

Increase in purchase price of milk by Rs 6 per liter

The Chief Minister said that the price of purchasing milk from farmers has been increased by Rs 6 per liter. He also informed about the implementation of ‘Thaimaman Thanga Modiram’ scheme. According to Vijay, this scheme has been implemented from September 28. Vijay said that under the ‘Vetri Payanam’ scheme, women in Tamil Nadu will be provided free travel facility in buses. He informed that this scheme will be implemented in the entire state from October 2. The government says the aim of the scheme is to make public transport more accessible to women.

By-election in Dharapuram on 6 October, results on 9

Voting for the by-election on Dharapuram assembly seat will be held on October 6 and the counting of votes will be done on October 9. Vijay’s rally was organized in support of the TVK candidate. The campaigning of political parties has intensified in Tamil Nadu regarding the by-elections. (With inputs from ANI)
