The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in West Bengal till July 14. Apart from Bengal, there are chances of rain in Bihar and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh also. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the northeastern states next week also. IMD said that there is a possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Northeast India, West Bengal and Bihar during the next 2–3 days. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next 4–5 days. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Meghalaya today, 12 July 2026.
The Meteorological Department said that due to active monsoon, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many districts of West Bengal till July 14. The IMD said in a bulletin that the sub-Himalayan districts of the state, which have been hit by torrential rains for the past few days, are also likely to continue with heavy rainfall till July 14. The Meteorological Department said that the sky may remain cloudy in Delhi NCR for the next few days. However, there is no forecast of rain in the coming week.
Fear of waterlogging at many places
The Meteorological Department has expressed fear of landslides in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong and waterlogging in the low-lying areas of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri. According to the department, Bankura, Birbhum, East and West Bardhaman, Nadia and Murshidabad districts may receive heavy rains till July 14, while light to moderate rains are expected in other districts of South Bengal. According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Murshidabad and East Bardhaman on Monday. There may also be heavy rainfall in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly districts. According to IMD data, in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Sunday, Pundibari in Cooch Behar district recorded the highest rainfall of 89 mm in the state. Apart from this, significant rainfall also occurred in Gandrapara (66 mm), Hasimara (62 mm), Alipurduar (58 mm), Darjeeling (38 mm), Dum Dum (38 mm) and Chel (35 mm). The Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy sky and one or two rounds of moderate rain in Kolkata till Monday morning.
Landslides at many places in Uttarakhand
Heavy rains at various places in Uttarakhand during the last 24 hours led to landslides at various places, blocking 126 roads, while in Dehradun, a woman was injured when a wall of an under-construction building collapsed and a temporary bridge was damaged. The work of repairing the Yamunotri Highway, which was closed due to landslide in Syanachatti for the last three days, is going on continuously. According to information received from the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), a total of 126 roads including two national highways in Uttarakhand are blocked due to landslides. A temporary bridge built in place of the bridge that was washed away during last year’s disaster in Premnagar area of Dehradun was damaged during heavy rains in the early hours of Sunday. Jhajhra-Paonta Sahib National Highway is being used as an alternative for traffic.
Monsoon will remain weak in Rajasthan
Monsoon is likely to remain weak in most parts of Rajasthan for the next one week and the weather will remain dry at most places across the state. According to Jaipur weather centre, only a few places in the state witnessed strong winds and light rain during the last 24 hours. Maximum rainfall of five mm was recorded in Talera of Bundi district. The Meteorological Department said that the weather is expected to remain dry for the next one week in most areas of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in Western Rajasthan. However, under the influence of a weak weather system, light rain may occur at some places in Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu districts on July 14 and 15. According to the department, the weather is likely to remain dry at most places in eastern Rajasthan for the next five to six days.
