New Delhi: The students’ agitation regarding the paper leak issue now seems to be reaching a new turn. On one hand, the government has initiated talks, while on the other hand, the opposition is raising this issue in its own way. Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk’s letter has given a new direction to the entire incident. It was discussed in the program that on behalf of the government, JP Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh went to the hospital and met Sonam Wangchuk. After this, Sonam Wangchuk wrote a letter saying that she has been given two important assurances. First, compensation will be considered for families whose children have allegedly committed suicide following the incidents related to the NEET paper leak. Second, there will be a meaningful discussion on this entire matter in Parliament and accountability will be fixed, which also includes considering the resignation of the Education Minister.
Sonam Wangchuk also urged in her letter that no punitive or legal action should be taken against any student involved in the movement. He says that if the government gives a clear assurance about this then he is ready to end his fast. This letter is being considered as a positive sign in the direction of talks.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi also put forward his three demands. They demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, action against those who used force on students and an apology from the Prime Minister on the entire issue. However, differences were also seen in the stance of opposition parties within the Parliament. Congress insisted on the demand for resignation before discussion, while Samajwadi Party said that it is necessary to discuss the issue first.
It was also said in the discussion that if there is a debate in the Parliament, the government will present its side of the entire incident. In this it will be told what steps were taken after the paper leak came to light and on what basis decisions were taken. In the matter of compensation also, it was said that the decision would be taken on the basis of investigation and report of the local administration.

It was said that the main face of this movement is Sonam Wangchuk and if the government convinces her through talks then the movement can end. On the other hand, some speakers alleged that political parties also have an active role in the movement and this is the reason why despite talks the deadlock is not ending completely.
Amidst this entire incident, a delegation of opposition parties also reached the hospital in Gurugram, where Sonam Wangchuk is admitted. However, he did not get permission to meet, after which he started protesting outside the hospital. The noteworthy thing was that Congress was not included in this delegation, due to which the discussion of different strategies intensified even within the opposition.
Overall, at present the whole matter seems to be seeking a balance between talks, political strategy and possible debate in Parliament. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether any concrete solution emerges from the talks between the government and the agitators or whether this dispute takes a further political form.
