Monsoon has once again gained momentum due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal and northern Odisha-West Bengal coast. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of light to heavy rain in 22 states of the country. During this period, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour. Rain activities will intensify over East, Northeast India, East Uttar Pradesh and Western Himalayan regions for the next 7 days.

Along with rain, there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour and lightning in many parts of the country. This low pressure area will strengthen further in the next two days and move towards the plains of North Odisha and West Bengal.

Weather condition in these states

  1. It will be partly cloudy in Delhi today, but the humid heat will bother. The temperature can reach 40 degrees Celsius, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ here.
  2. Eastern UP will receive heavy to very heavy rain between July 17 and 21. At the same time, in Western UP, winds will blow at a speed of 40-60 km/hour with sporadic rains from July 16-18 and heavy rains during July 19-21.
  3. There will be rain in most areas in Bihar from July 16 to 20, while heavy rain and thundershowers are forecast at some places between July 18 and 20.
  4. At the same time, there is an alert of heavy rain in Jharkhand till July 18 and it will rain in the entire state till July 21. During this period, strong winds may also occur along with thunderstorms.
  5. There will be widespread rain in Uttarakhand between July 16 and 21. At the same time, there is an alert of heavy rain on July 20-21.
  6. The extent of rain will increase in Himachal Pradesh from July 18 and there will be heavy rain on July 20-21.
  7. At the same time, there are chances of heavy rains and strong winds in Jammu and Kashmir between July 19 and 21.

States affected

The 22 states where alert has been issued mainly include Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
