‘Nalanda University revives the tradition of debate’, PM Modi said in the 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat

PM Modi spoke to the people of the country on Sunday (June 28). During this, he thanked the people of the country for not buying gold. The PM had appealed to the countrymen not to buy gold and the people of the country listened to him. For this he thanked everyone. In the 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat, he advised to stay away from superstition. He also told about a bird found in the North East states, which was earlier considered inauspicious, but the women there are taking the initiative to save this bird. The PM said that Nalanda University has kept alive the tradition of debate. The tradition of Shastrartha has been started in the convocation ceremony of Nalanda University.

The Prime Minister said, “Half of the year 2026 is about to end. In these six months, we have talked about many successes of our countrymen in Mann Ki Baat. Even in June, the country has achieved some such successes of which every citizen is proud. These successes are related to the country’s security and self-reliance.” He mentioned the country’s self-reliance in the defense sector and said that recently everything from the design to manufacturing of INS Dunagiri, INS Modifier and Modifier Agre is indigenous. He described the successful test of the indigenous long-range land-attack cruise missile by the Defense Research and Development Organization in June as another important milestone for India’s defense sector. He further said that the country has achieved a major breakthrough in the aviation sector with the maiden flight of the made-in-India C-295 transport aircraft. 40 such aircraft are being made in India.

Meghalaya’s root bridge appreciated

The PM also praised the route bridge of Meghalaya. He told that it takes several decades to build a bridge from rubber trees. The rubber roots are slowly moved in one direction. After this a bridge is built. Its specialty is that this bridge continuously becomes stronger with time. Local people are maintaining more than 120 root bridges in Meghalaya. The creativity of the people here is visible in these bridges.

Praise to the people of Biaora, Madhya Pradesh

The women of Biaora village in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh have adopted a unique way of disposing of waste. These women collected plastic waste from the surrounding areas and started making trees from it, which decorate the surrounding areas. Due to this, hundreds of kilos of plastic have been reused and waste has been reduced. PM appealed to people to make clay idols before Ganesh Chaturthi. He asked not to buy plaster of Paris and statues made abroad. The PM appealed to buy indigenous goods and take care of the environment during every festival.

Urged to save rain water

At the end of the episode he appealed to the people of the country to save water. The PM said that every drop of rain should be saved and sent underground through soakpits or other methods so that there is no shortage of water. This will also help in increasing the groundwater level.
