New Delhi: Another major achievement is about to be added to India’s defense sector. DRDO Chairman Sameer V Kamat has recently said a big thing. He said at the ANI National Security Summit that India is working on hypersonic glide and hypersonic cruise missile systems, of which the glide missile is ahead in development.
“With regard to hypersonic missiles, we are working on two programs: hypersonic glide missile and hypersonic cruise missile,” he said.
What’s the difference?
Kamat said, “Hypersonic cruise missile has a scramjet engine and it gets energy during flight. Whereas hypersonic glide missile uses a booster to give initial speed and then it glides without any energy.”
Kamat has indicated that testing of the glide missile can be started soon. “The glide missile will come first. We should conduct the first tests soon and it is at a more advanced stage than the cruise missile,” he said.
DRDO is ready for Agni 6
Recently, Kamat had also told that DRDO is ready for Agni 6, just waiting for the Centre’s approval. On the development of Agni-VI ballistic missile, Kamat said the program depends on the government’s decision, and added that the agency is fully prepared to move forward as soon as the approval is received.
Agni-VI is expected to be an advanced intercontinental ballistic missile with greater strike capability and better capabilities than India’s existing Agni series of systems.
Let us tell you that India has been engaged in strengthening its defense sector for a long time and while doing this work, it has developed many wonderful things, which are expert in getting rid of the sixes of the enemies.
