Raghav Chadha Joins BJP: The numbers game in Rajya Sabha has completely changed after the decision of 7 MPs of Aam Aadmi Party led by Raghav Chadha to join BJP. Chadha also claimed that a total of 7 AAP MPs are together, including former international cricketer Harbhajan Singh. Will anti-defection law be applied on these MPs?

Let us tell you that according to Raghav Chadha, out of total 10 Rajya Sabha MPs of AAP, 7 MPs have decided to go with BJP. This change fulfills the two-thirds majority requirement under the Anti-Defection Law (Tenth Schedule), so no disqualification will apply to these MPs. AAP’s position will weaken in Rajya Sabha

At the same time, after these changes, AAP’s position in Rajya Sabha will become quite weak. Now the party will be left with only 3 MPs in Rajya Sabha:

Putting all these together, the effective strength of the government reaches 120. At the same time, after this change, the position of BJP led NDA in the House also becomes much stronger. With BJP’s own 113 MPs, 7 nominated MPs and 28 MPs from allies, the total number of NDA MPs in the House reaches 148. In this way, BJP has an additional support of 25 MPs over the 123 MPs required for majority in Rajya Sabha.
