The Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifted a critically ill civilian from Leh to Delhi’s Palam Airport late Saturday night. This 30 year old patient needed immediate treatment. The Air Force accomplished this mission at short notice with the help of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. After reaching Delhi, the patient was admitted to AIIMS for further treatment.

The Air Force gave information about this mission on Sunday. According to the IAF, the operation was conducted in dense darkness and bad weather. To make the mission successful even in challenging circumstances, thorough preparation, better coordination and timely action were necessary.

Mission accomplished in difficult circumstances

It was not easy to airlift a patient from a hilly area like Leh at night. Despite dense darkness and bad weather, the Air Force airlifted the patient safely to Delhi. This operation shows how the IAF responds quickly to help people in emergency situations.

IAF has 12 C-130J aircraft

The Indian Air Force has 12 C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Lockheed Martin Company. They are used for special military operations, transportation of troops and essential supplies, relief operations and operations in difficult areas. These aircraft are capable of operating even in difficult geographical conditions.

C-130J has made night landing in Kargil

In January 2024, an IAF C-130J aircraft made a night landing on the Kargil airstrip. This was considered a major achievement of the Air Force. During this time the plane had to pass through hills 14,000 to 15,000 feet high. There was only one direction available for landing and there was no go-around option.

Rescue operation was also conducted in Sudan

The Indian Air Force has already carried out rescue operations in difficult circumstances. During the conflict in Sudan in the year 2023, IAF played an important role in the operation to rescue Indian citizens trapped there. In this way the Air Force, along with military operations, also works to help civilians in emergency situations.
