Delhi Police had not approved this protest keeping in mind the previous protests of CJP. To maintain law and order in the country’s capital, Delhi Police had given instructions to keep all the markets in New Delhi area closed. Due to the market being closed, business worth thousands of crores of rupees came to a standstill in Delhi and it had a bad impact on lakhs of traders.
More than 20 lakh traders were affected
The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has appealed to all political parties including the Cockroach Janata Party not to hold any kind of protest in Delhi till the end of Diwali. CTI said that due to the protest in Delhi on October 10, business worth about Rs 2000 crore was affected in Delhi, due to which lines of worry emerged on the forehead of 20 lakh traders of Delhi.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry, in a letter written to all political parties including CJP, said, “Navratri and Ramlilas are starting from today and the Diwali season has started.” This is the biggest trading season of the year for 20 lakh traders of Delhi. Business is being badly affected due to the protest and if this protest continues for a long time then Delhi’s economy will completely collapse and the business of 20 lakh traders of Delhi will be ruined.
Appeal to choose another city instead of Delhi for protest
CTI further said in the letter written on October 11, “Ramlilas are also starting in Delhi from today. 650 Ramlilas take place in Delhi, in which lakhs of people get employment. If roads and metro stations remain closed due to protests, people will shy away from coming to Ramlilas. The Chamber of Trade and Industry demands from CJP and all political parties that till Diwali, any city other than Delhi can be chosen for the protest, so that the festive business of Delhi can be saved and the common people do not face any problem.

CTI wrote in its letter that Delhi is the biggest distribution hub of the entire country and from here the goods go to the whole of India and abroad. Every day 3-4 lakh outsiders come to Delhi markets for shopping.
Delhi’s business situation on October 10
- Major and big markets of Delhi like Sadar Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazaar, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Rai Market remained closed. There was little to no activity in other markets as well.
- The daily 3-4 lakh outside buyers who shop in Delhi markets did not come.
- Due to fear of security and traffic jam, people of Delhi also did not go out for shopping.
- A large number of metro stations remained closed, due to which traffic came to a standstill.
- There was no crowd at the petrol pumps either. Bookings in hotels, restaurants, cinema halls, beauty parlors and salons were cancelled.
CTI said that due to the protest on October 10, not only retail trade but also trade worth Rs 2000 crore including service sector, hospitality sector, transport, tourism was affected.
