Puri: A person died while making a social media reel with a poisonous cobra snake in Odisha’s Puri district. The deceased has been identified as Tapan Kumar Pradhan. It is being told that he used to catch and rescue snakes. While making a video with a cobra in the verandah of a club building in the village on Friday afternoon, the snake bit him at several places. After being taken to the hospital, doctors declared him dead. The deceased Tapan Kumar Pradhan was a resident of Kanthapur village under Puri Sadar police station area.

Was making a reel with a poisonous cobra snake in the verandah

On Friday afternoon, Tapan was making a reel for social media with a poisonous cobra snake in the verandah of the club building of his village. During this time the snake attacked him. The cobra bit Tapan on his finger, elbow and upper arm. His condition deteriorated after being bitten by a poisonous snake.

After the snake bite, the family members immediately took Tapan to a private hospital. After this he was admitted to Puri District Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead after examination. There is an atmosphere of sadness in the family and village due to this incident.

Tapan’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Puri Sadar Police has started investigating the matter.

Tapan used to do snake catching and rescue work

Tapan Puri used to catch and rescue snakes in Sadar and Brahmagiri areas. He also used to share his videos related to saving snakes on social media. Despite his experience in catching snakes, this time he met with an accident while making a video with a poisonous cobra.

This incident clearly shows how dangerous it can be to make videos with poisonous snakes for social media. The bite of a poisonous snake like a cobra can lead to a serious condition and can even lead to death if proper treatment is not received on time.

Catching or rescuing snakes should be done only by trained people and with necessary safety measures. Taking risks with poisonous snakes based only on experience or previous rescues can prove fatal.
