Adani Defense and Aerospace on Sunday laid the foundation stone for South Asia’s largest private-sector missile ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri. This is being considered a big step towards furthering the company’s defense manufacturing goals under ‘Self-reliant India’. The company said that this integrated facility will bring the entire value chain of missile manufacturing – from raw materials to mission-ready missile systems – under one roof, which is happening for the first time in India’s private sector. An investment of Rs 2500 crore will be made in this project.
India’s indigenous defense production capacity will be strengthened
Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Enterprises, said on the occasion, “This facility will bring raw materials and mission-ready missiles under one roof, which is a historic initiative outside the public sector.” Medium and long-range missile systems will be built in the Shivpuri complex. It will also have a facility to manufacture composite propellant as well as TNT and explosive-grade materials, which will strengthen India’s indigenous defense production capacity.
An investment of Rs 2500 crore will be made in the next 3 years
Jeet Adani said that the company will invest Rs 2,500 crore in this project in the next three years. He said, “This investment will provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 people and more than 50 MSMEs will be connected to a very special supply chain.” According to the company, this new facility will further strengthen its existing defense manufacturing operations in Gwalior, where it manufactures light machine guns, assault rifles and carbines.
Adani Group will invest Rs 1.10 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh
Last year, at the Global Investors Summit held in Bhopal, Chairman Gautam Adani had announced investment of Rs 1.10 lakh crore in hydro pump storage, cement, mining, smart meter and thermal power projects in the state. It aims to create 1.2 lakh jobs by 2030.
Investment of more than Rs 4,000 crore in Ametha and Kaimor cement plants
Jeet Adani said the group has already invested more than Rs 4,000 crore in its Ametha and Kaimor cement plants in Katni district. Also, Adani Power is currently supplying 1,200 MW power to Madhya Pradesh and work is underway on projects with a capacity of 5,600 MW. He also mentioned the ongoing wind energy projects in Dhar, Ratlam and Ujjain as well as the proposed cement plant in Ujjain and the recently started Rs 1,060 crore cement project in Guna.
