For the last few days, various claims are being made on social media and many forums regarding E20 petrol. At some places it is being said that this is damaging the engine of vehicles, while at some places it is being claimed that this may invalidate the vehicle’s insurance. Now on all these claims, the Indian Sugar and Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) has issued a big statement saying that such things are completely misleading and have no scientific basis.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, before implementing E20 petrol, it was examined and tested several times, so that it remains safe for vehicles. The Ministry says that after the implementation of E20, there has been no confirmed case of engine failure or stalling of any vehicle till now. The government also clarified that the advice of automobile companies, oil marketing companies and testing agencies has been taken in this entire process.
Is sugarcane juice really mixed directly into petrol?
ISMA also dispelled the misconception that sugarcane juice is mixed directly into petrol. According to the organization, fuel grade ethanol is prepared through an industrial process. It is made from sources like sugarcane juice, molasses, corn and broken rice. Only after the quality check is completed, it is mixed with petrol as per the prescribed standards.
What are the benefits of E20 petrol?
ISMA says that E20 petrol not only benefits the environment but also strengthens the country’s economy. This reduces dependence on crude oil imports, saves foreign exchange and helps in increasing the income of farmers. According to government estimates, India has so far saved foreign exchange worth more than Rs 1.4 lakh crore through the ethanol blending program.
Avoid rumors, trust official information
ISMA Director General Deepak Ballani said that India’s ethanol blending program is completely based on scientific process. He appealed to the people not to believe the unconfirmed news spreading on social media regarding E20 petrol. For any information, trust only the facts released by the government, automobile companies and related official institutions.
