Account will be recovered through selfie video
Google explained through its blogpost that this new selfie video feature has been brought to help users recover their Google account. When you forget the password of your Google account and you have no other way to sign in, then you can take the help of this feature.
The American tech company has rolled out this feature as an optional recovery tool. Now, if you ever forget your Google account password or your account gets locked, you will be able to recover your Gmail account by uploading a selfie video. However, for this you will have to first upload a video while setting up the account, which will work for face verification while recovering the account.
How will you be able to use it?
To use this selfie video recovery tool, first you have to go to your Google account and upload a short selfie video as an optional recovery. When you have no option left to recover your account, you will have to upload a short selfie video again. Google’s system will help you recover your account by analyzing both the selfie videos. You will then be able to log in to your account again by creating a new password. Apart from this, Google has also recently added end-to-end encryption feature in Gmail like WhatsApp.
Will be used as reference video
While creating or setting up an account, the selfie video you upload will be used by Google’s system as a reference video. While uploading a selfie video, you will have to move your head so that it does not appear that you have uploaded the photo by making a video. Not only this, you cannot upload any old video during account recovery. For this you will have to use the front camera of the phone in real time.
