Player auction was organized on October 7 for the fifth season of SA20, a franchise-based T20 league played in South Africa, in which a total of 19 players were to be purchased. The player auction ended within just an hour, in which if we look at the most expensive player, it is the 18-year-old young player of South Africa, James Rolls, for whom Joburg Super Kings spent Rs 1.68 crore from their purse. James Rolls is being seen as a big player of the future, in which he has shown his talent in Under-19 cricket as well and that is why there was tremendous excitement among the teams regarding him in the auction.

When the name of 18-year-old left-handed young all-rounder James Rolls was called in the SA20 Player Auction, then MI Cape Town along with Joburg Super Kings continuously raised the paddle to make him their part. In such a situation, the bidding seemed to be moving forward with great speed. After this, MI Cape Town pulled back and acquired Joburg Super Kings James Rolls for 2.9 million rand i.e. Rs 1.68 crore at present. Before James Rolls, in the auction, Joburg Super Kings had bought Faf du Plessis, former captain of the South African team and who has retired from international cricket, for Rs 1.57 crore.

In the only T20 match that Rolls has played, he has scored 45 runs and also taken one wicket.
