In the final match of the Junior Squash World Championship held in Canada, Anahat Singh defeated Ruqayya Salem of Egypt by a margin of 11-3 in the first set and then managed to win the second set by a margin of 11-7. Now all eyes were fixed on the third set of this match, which Anahat Singh managed to win by a margin of 11-9 and win the title. Anahat Singh became the first Indian to reach the final after Joshna Chinappa in the year 2005, in which Chinappa had traveled till the final of this tournament, but she missed out on winning the title. At the same time, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated Anahat on this historic victory, in which he posted on X and wrote that history has been created! Now everyone has expectations from Anahata in Olympics too
Squash has also been included in the Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles in the year 2028, in which Anahat Singh’s victory would have boosted his confidence a lot. Anahat is currently among the top-20 players in the world rankings of the Senior PSA Tour. In such a situation, he still has a chance to further improve his ranking.
