Bangladesh cricket team, which has lost in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, has now suffered another big blow. The team’s experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das has not been able to recover from a hamstring injury and has been ruled out of the entire ODI series. Bangladesh Cricket Board has included young batsman Parvez Hussain Emon in his place in the team.
Liton Das was already out of the first ODI played on 6 July. At that time it was expected that he would return fit for the next matches, but he could not pass the latest fitness test. After this, the team management has decided to keep him out of the remaining two matches also. Now he will stay in Dhaka and focus on recovering from his injury.
No good signs found in fitness test
Bangladesh team physio Bayazedul Islam Khan issued a statement saying that Liton had already missed the first ODI and is still not fully fit to play the match. His fitness test was conducted today, but the results were not satisfactory. There are two consecutive ODI matches coming up and we don’t think he will be able to regain fitness quickly enough to play any role in this series. After Liton Das was ruled out, Bangladesh included Parvez Hossain Emon in the squad for the second and third ODI. The young batsman will now have a good chance to prove himself at the international level.
Bangladesh will enter with the intention of saving the series
Bangladesh had to face a shocking defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe in the first match of the three-match ODI series. Now the second ODI has become a do or die match for the visiting team. The second ODI between the two teams will be played on July 9 in Harare. If Bangladesh loses this match then the series will also be lost. In such a situation, there will be pressure on the team to win, while host Zimbabwe will enter the field with the intention of winning the series.
Bangladesh squad for ODI series against Zimbabwe: Mehdi Hasan Miraj (captain), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hasan, Tanjeed Hasan, Nazmul Hussain Shanto, Tauheed Hridoy, Pervez Hussain Emon, Mosaddek Hussain, Nurul Hasan, Rishad Hussain, Tanveer Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana.
