Big news has come out regarding Indian women’s cricket. BCCI has announced the Indian teams for the Under-19 women’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka, in which many emerging players have been included. BCCI announced T20 and ODI squads for the home Under-19 series against Sri Lanka. A total of 6 matches will be played between India and Sri Lanka, in which three T20I matches will be held in Chennai and three ODI matches will be held in Puducherry. Wicketkeeper-batsman Bhavika Ahire has been given the captaincy of the team in both the formats. Considering his excellent performance and leadership abilities in junior cricket in recent times, the selectors have expressed confidence in him. Mehak Narvase has been made the vice-captain of both the teams.
Many young faces got opportunity
Many such young players have got a place in the Indian team, who have consistently impressed at the domestic and junior level. Players like Ira Jadhav, Ishwari Avasare, Purva Siwach, Kumari Palak, Kashvi Kandikuppa, Gauri Goyal, Janhvi Virkar and Anadi Tagde have got opportunities in both the formats. The selectors have tried to maintain balance in both the T20 and ODI teams. Some players have been specially selected according to the needs of shorter format and some 50 over cricket. Through this series, young players will get a chance to prove themselves in the international environment.
