New Delhi: The results of 27 out of 28 MLC seats in 4 states of the country have been declared. While the counting of second preference votes is going on in Varanasi graduation elections. SP is ahead on this seat by a huge margin. Out of 27 seats, NDA has registered a landslide victory on 16 seats. Talking about BJP, BJP has won 13 seats. Congress had to be satisfied with just one seat. In UP, Samajwadi Party has won 4 seats and is ahead on one seat. Whereas in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar’s party NCP Sharad Pawar has captured two seats. Talking about Bihar, here also the account of Prashant Kishor’s party Jan Suraj has been opened. Even Congress’s account could not be opened in Bihar and Karnataka. Now the question arises that why Congress lost badly in the Legislative Council elections held through ballot paper. Let us know the reasons for this.

1- Disintegration in the Grand Alliance in Bihar: The MLC elections held on eight seats in Bihar saw disunity among the grand alliance. Congress, RJD and Left parties contested elections separately. Due to which there was scattering of votes. Congress and RJD fielded their candidates in Patna Teacher, Patna Graduate, Darbhanga Teacher, Darbhanga Graduate and Kosi Graduate constituencies. The current MLC of Congress was in the fray for Darbhanga teachers election seat. RJD had initially not fielded any candidate for this seat, but later when Congress decided to field its candidates in all five constituencies, RJD also fielded its candidates. At the same time, CPM also declared its candidate in Darbhanga. The result was that veteran Congress leader Madan Mohan Jha got 2,187 votes and Ramdev Rai got 1,498 votes. RJD candidate Kumar Raut got 126 votes. Congress lost this seat to Jansuraj’s candidate. Congress lost this seat by 324 votes. Congress had to pay a heavy price for not respecting its allies. Congress also lost its seat in the process of contesting elections on more seats.

Who got how many seats in Bihar

The results of all 8 seats of Bihar Legislative Council have come. BJP has won three seats. Whereas JDU, RJD and Jansuraj have got one seat each. While independent candidates have won two seats. If we talk about Congress, its account has not even been opened in Bihar. JDU’s Neeraj Kumar has won the most high profile Patna Graduate seat in Bihar MLC elections for the fourth time. Anant Singh’s special and Jansuraj candidate Anuj Singh stood third.

2- Congress organization is weak at the grassroots level: In the states where MLC elections were held, the Congress organization is weak at the grassroots level. Karnataka is the only state where Congress is strong and it also has a government there. Despite this, Congress lost all the four MLC seats in Karnataka. In the elections held through ballot paper, BJP got three seats and its ally JDS got one seat. JDS’s AP Ranganath defeated Congress’ five-time MLC and deputy leader in the Legislative Council Puttana.

3- Mistake in selection of winning candidate: The biggest reason for Congress’s defeat was the lack of selection of a winning candidate. Congress expressed confidence in those close to big leaders instead of the winning candidate. He also had to suffer the consequences of this. Congress did not show the same vigilance in selecting candidates as BJP, SP and other parties did.

4- Not being able to ground the narrative raised by Rahul Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi raised many such issues like youth unemployment, paper leak in exams and rigging in government jobs which directly connect with the public. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been raising questions on vote theft, election irregularities and the impartiality of the Election Commission for the last several months. Congress leaders could not implement the narrative created by Rahul Gandhi.

5- Controversial statements of Congress leaders: As elections approach, many Congress leaders make some controversial statements due to which it has to suffer the consequences. BJP makes controversial statements an issue. Recently, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had given a controversial statement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP alleges that Kharge abused PM Modi’s father. Congress leader Danish Ali had also recently given a controversial statement on the issue of vote theft.
