Keeping this in mind, now in the statement issued by Rashid Khan, he has indicated that after the end of IPL 2026, he can stay out of the one-match Test series against India to be played in Mullanpur in the month of June.

Doctor has advised me to stay away from test cricket

Rashid Khan, in his statement given after the Gujarat Titans team won by one run in the IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals, in response to a question regarding his back injury, said that after the operation, I am definitely completely fit, but the doctor told me that if you do not want to play cricket, then keep playing Test cricket. I enjoy ODI cricket and if I stay away from Test cricket, I can play for Afghanistan for a long time. Meanwhile, when Rashid was asked a question about the only Test match to be held against the Indian team after the IPL, he replied that if I am playing one Test in a year, then I will have played it in 2025. The doctor had first told me to stay away from Test cricket, despite this I played the Test against Zimbabwe and took 11 wickets while bowling 54 overs.

My full focus now is ODI World Cup 2027

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan further said about staying away from Test cricket that if I play in a Test match against India and there is a problem in my back, then what will I do. If I am playing one Test a year, I am not going to play 100 Test matches. Right now my entire focus is on the preparations for the ODI World Cup to be held in the year 2027, for which I do not want to take any risk with my fitness.
