Shimla/Dehradun: People from neighboring states are heading to the mountains on weekends. Meanwhile, huge crowd is being seen at major tourist places from Himachal to Uttarakhand. Long traffic jams are being seen everywhere here. Be it Kullu-Manali of Himachal, Shimla or Nainital of Uttarakhand, huge crowd of tourists is being seen everywhere. This weekend, a large number of tourists from outside states have come to the mountains. On one side, the snow falling on Rohtang and on the other side, the cold climate of Lahaul Spiti, compels everyone to come to Manali. But guests who suddenly come to Manali also get stuck in traffic. Be it Manali to Solang Valley road or Hidimba Devi road, there is constant traffic jam on everything.
Thousands of tourists reached Shimla
At the same time, traffic pressure is continuously increasing in the capital Shimla during the tourist season. A total of 16,277 vehicles reached Shimla from Shoghi Barrier on Friday. Of these, about 7,060 vehicles were from outside states. According to statistics, even on normal days, about 10 thousand vehicles are reaching Shimla every day. The number of vehicles reaching Shimla in a week is reaching around 70 to 80 thousand. About 50 percent of these vehicles are said to be from outside states. Due to large number of vehicles entering the city, traffic pressure is increasing on major roads and around tourist places.
15 minute journey taking 1 to 2 hours
Tourists reaching Shimla are also facing problems due to traffic jams. Tourists say that after entering the city, it is taking 1 to 2 hours to reach Mall Road, whereas under normal circumstances this journey can be completed in about 15 to 20 minutes. Due to traffic jams, tourists are spending a lot of time on the roads.
Appeal to follow traffic rules
Meanwhile, Shimla DSP Traffic Chandrashekhar has appealed to the local people, tourists and vehicle operators to follow traffic rules and maintain patience. He said that Shimla Police is continuously making efforts to streamline the traffic system and free the city from jams. Drivers should follow the rules and cooperate with the police, so that the traffic system can be improved.
Crowd of tourists gathered in Nainital
Talking about Uttarakhand, due to the weekend, there is a huge crowd of tourists at the major tourist places of Kumaon including Nainital, Bhimtal, Kainchi Dham. Due to increase in the number of tourists, the traffic system on the routes from Haldwani to Nainital and Bhimtal has collapsed. Long queues of vehicles are being seen on Nainital Road since Friday. Due to traffic jam, tourists are taking hours to travel even a few kilometers.
Some tourists from Delhi expressed their displeasure and said that if the journey of half an hour is being completed in four to six hours, then it has become very difficult to reach the tourist destination. Some tourists even said that now they will avoid coming to Bhimtal again. Tourists have spent the night on the streets in Nainital. From the bus stand to the rickshaw stand, everyone was forced to spend the night wherever they could. Even if someone searches and finds a hotel, a room worth Rs 1000 is being given for Rs 12 thousand.
There is no place to set foot in Kainchi Dham
There is a flood of faith in Kainchi Dham of Nainital. Kainchidham is once again filled with devotees. There is an influx of devotees in Neeb Karori Dham. However, with the arrival of tourists, not only has religious tourism gained momentum, but there has also been a boom in tourism business from Haldwani to Kainchidham and from Nainital to Kaladhungi.
However, the police administration has deployed police personnel at major traffic points from Haldwani city to Bhimtal and Nainital and efforts are being made to control the traffic. Despite this, due to the huge influx of tourists, there are long traffic jams at many places. Due to the weekend, tourists from all over the country are reaching Nainital district, due to which the pressure of vehicles on the roads is continuously increasing. In such a situation, the traffic system during the tourist season has become a big challenge for the administration and police. (Input- Jiten Thakur, Kapil Thakur and Bhupendra Rawat)
