Two children died when a part of an arch collapsed during a play being staged on an open stage in Karnataka’s Raichur district on Saturday. Many people were seriously injured. After this, there was a commotion during the staging of the play. According to the police, the incident took place in Bail Marchad village of Manvi taluk.
Dead children identified
Police said seven people were sitting under the arch watching a play when the structure suddenly collapsed, killing two children on the spot. According to the police, these children have been identified as Vishwanath Ramalinga (8 years old) and Sanvita (2 years old). The bodies of both have been kept in the mortuary of Manvi Government Hospital.
Police registered a case and started investigation
Police said Visakshi (25), Lakshmi (18), Vishalakshi (25), Yallamma (3) and Basamma (45) were injured in the incident. All the injured have been admitted to Raichur Ayurved Institute. A case in this regard has been registered at Manvi police station and investigation is being done.
