New Delhi: A major development took place today in the Ram temple offering theft case. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government has filed its status report in the Supreme Court. This report has been filed in a sealed envelope. Now this case will be heard by a bench of three judges headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant on Monday.
Hearing on four different petitions
Four separate petitions related to theft of Ram temple offerings have been filed in the apex court. Their hearing will also be held on Monday. During this time, SIT will also file its report. On July 13, the Supreme Court, while agreeing to hear these petitions, had directed the SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to investigate the case to submit the report before the court.
The Supreme Court had said, “In some writ petitions it has been stated that some FIRs have already been registered in this matter and an SIT has been constituted for investigation. Therefore, we direct the SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to submit the status report in the court.
Demand for CBI investigation
Narendra Kumar Goswami, a petitioner in the case, has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. He has also demanded an audit by CAG of the financial transactions of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is handling the management of Ram Temple. Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, who filed the petition, have said that the alleged financial irregularities and other alleged illegal acts related to the functioning and administration of the trust should be investigated by the SIT formed under the leadership of CBI.
In the third petition filed by Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Sudhakar Singh, along with a CBI investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court, a forensic audit of the entire financial transactions of the trust has also been requested. In another petition filed by ‘Hindu Dharma Parishad’, a request has been made to investigate the allegations under the supervision of the apex court.
Formation of SIT on June 13
Let us tell you that the Uttar Pradesh government had formed SIT on the request of the temple trust on June 13 after allegations of alleged theft of offerings in the Ram temple. The SIT includes Lucknow division commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, IG Kiran S. and special secretary (finance) Neel Ratan. In this matter, a meeting of Ram Mandir Trust was held on July 6 in which the resignations of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trust Anil Mishra were accepted. Krishna Gopal was given the responsibility of interim general secretary.
Eight accused have been arrested
Police have arrested eight named accused in the offering theft case. These include Ramakant alias Tinnu Yadav, Subhash Srivastava, Anukalp Mishra, Luvkush Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Karunesh Pandey, Manish Yadav, and Ramashankar Mishra. All these are related to counting the amount of donation. Six of them are cashiers, while Tinnu Yadav’s job was to supervise the counting of cash and taking it to the bank. Under the supervision of Subhash Srivastava, all these six cashiers kept accounts of the offerings made to the Ram temple.
