The Supreme Court today (Thursday) expressed strong displeasure over the rapidly increasing illegal construction in Delhi and ignoring safety rules. The Supreme Court said that it had expected that the responsible officers would take action themselves, but this did not happen. Now the court will give such orders which will impact many people.

Personal responsibility of negligent officers will be decided

The Supreme Court clearly said that now personal responsibility of negligent officers will be fixed. The court said that now everything will be clearly written in the order. During the hearing, the Supreme Court also mentioned incidents like Malviya Nagar fire, Lucknow fire and building collapse in Saket and said that such cases cannot be taken lightly.

Saket, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar will be inspected

The Supreme Court has ordered inspection of Saket, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Nagar areas. For this, a team of two senior professors of IIT Delhi, two draftsmen and MCD officials will be formed. This team will check the condition of buildings and compliance with rules in these areas.

Vice Chairman of Gurugram Development Authority summoned

The Supreme Court also took cognizance of a media report from Gurugram, which stated that 93 percent of the buildings in Gurugram do not have necessary fire safety arrangements. On this, the Supreme Court has ordered the Vice Chairman of Gurugram Development Authority to appear in the court in the next hearing. Apart from this, the court has also summoned the Commissioner of Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

What is Malviya Nagar fire incident?

A massive fire took place at Hotel Flourish Stay in Hauz Rani area of ​​Malviya Nagar, South Delhi on June 3, 2026 at around 8:30 am. In this fire accident, a hotel and restaurant building caught fire and 21 people died in it. More than 35 people were seriously injured in this incident. During this fire, the gate of the hotel was locked and many people had to jump from the building to save their lives.
