New Delhi: Nirmohi Akhara has filed a new petition in the Supreme Court in the case related to Ram temple of Ayodhya. The Akhara says that even after almost seven years of the Supreme Court’s decision in 2019, it has not been followed properly. The petition states that the Central Government formed the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, but it included people who have no historical, religious or legal connection with the Ram Janmabhoomi. The Akhara has also alleged that some members of the Trust have been accused of corruption, which has affected the image of the Ram Temple.
Demand for representation in the trust
Nirmohi Akhara says that no temple can function without its traditional service (shebait). Therefore, Akhara should be given proper role and representation in the Trust. Many important demands have been made from the Supreme Court in the petition. This includes the demand to reconstitute Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust as a public trust, make clear rules for the appointment of trustees and give appropriate space to Nirmohi Akhara.
Demand for forensic audit of all financial transactions of Ram Mandir Trust
Apart from this, the Akhara has said that all the puja, service and bhog in the temple should be conducted as per Ramanandi tradition. The petition also demands re-installation of the original statues of Shri Ram Lalla Virajman. Nirmohi Akhara has also demanded from the Supreme Court that an independent committee be formed to investigate the compliance of the 2019 decision and a forensic audit of all financial transactions of the Ram Mandir Trust.
This demand was also made from the court
The Akhara has urged the Court to direct the Central Government to make appropriate amendments in the Trust Deed and reconstitute the ‘Board of Trustees’ by including a monitoring board comprising members of the ‘Ramanandi Bairagi sect’. Also, it has been demanded that the trustees should be selected from among people of high integrity who have historical, legal or religious connection with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi or Ramanandi traditions.
