Monsoon is active in many states across the country. While incessant rain has slowed down the pace in many areas including Mumbai, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain, lightning and storm in 15 states of the country including North India today i.e. on 12th July. The 15 states where the alert has been issued include Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam and Tripura.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR?

People of Delhi-NCR will have to face dual mood of weather in the coming days. Between July 12 and 14, the capital will be partly cloudy and there may be light or sporadic rain at isolated places. However, there is no warning of heavy rains, which will lead to a rise in temperatures and people may have to endure sweltering heat.

UP and Bihar warning of heavy rain

Many districts of Uttar Pradesh like Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Agra, Gorakhpur and Mirzapur are under alert of heavy rain and stormy winds with a speed of 70 km/hour today.

Whereas, if we talk about Bihar, there has been a warning of heavy rain in districts like Khagaria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga including Patna. During this period, winds can blow at a speed of 60 km/hour.

Alert for Uttarakhand and Himachal

In Uttarakhand, heavy rains and thunderstorms are forecast in many districts including Dehradun, Nainital and Chamoli between July 12 and 14. The Meteorological Department has expressed fear of landslides and flash floods.

At the same time, heavy rains and winds at a speed of 60 km/hour are expected in areas like Kullu, Shimla and Manali of Himachal Pradesh.

How will the weather be in West Bengal?

Heavy rain is expected in many districts of West Bengal and Kolkata for the next 4 to 5 days. According to the Meteorological Department, due to favorable conditions, monsoon winds have gained momentum and the active low-pressure system will bring good rains in the coming days also. There is an orange alert of heavy rain in East Bardhaman, Nadia, Bankura. Apart from this, heavy rain is expected at some places in many districts including Birbhum, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and Howrah.
