Confederation of All India Traders i.e. CAIT has written a letter to the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressing the displeasure of traders across the country over the business activities being repeatedly disrupted due to political rallies, dharnas and demonstrations in Delhi for the last one month. CAIT has raised serious questions especially on the support given by Congress and other political parties to the rally of November 1 and the demonstrations of different organizations for the last one month. Meanwhile, CAIT has also announced to observe ‘Dhikkar Diwas’.

CAIT will celebrate ‘Dhikkar Diwas’ across the country

CAIT has announced that it will wait for Rahul Gandhi’s reply, but soon after Diwali, leaders from across the country including Delhi will hold an important national level meeting in Delhi to decide their strategy on this issue, because now this is not just a matter of Delhi businessmen. If today such a situation can arise in Delhi, then tomorrow it can happen in any other area of the country also. Therefore, this has become a serious national issue and Indian businessmen are not so weak that they will tolerate such a situation now. Now the time has come to teach a lesson. CAIT has announced to celebrate ‘Dhikkar Diwas’ across the country on this issue, the date of which will be decided in the meeting in New Delhi.

Business badly affected due to protests

In a letter sent to Rahul Gandhi, CAIT National President BC Bhartia raised questions on the political and moral responsibility of Rahul Gandhi and Congress and said that the demonstrations organized with their support have badly affected the economic activities of Delhi, while this is an important festive and wedding shopping season for India.

Rahul Gandhi cannot say two contradictory things simultaneously. On one hand they appeal to people to buy from local markets and on the other hand they support such political programs and demonstrations due to which customers are not able to reach those markets. This is not just a political contradiction, but a double attitude which directly affects the livelihood of common traders: CAIT National President BC Bhartia.

CAIT reminded Rahul of the Constitution

BC Bhartia further said that does Rahul Gandhi believe that the right to protest is greater than the right to do business and earn livelihood? Is Article 19(1)(G) of the Constitution only for giving speeches and writing in books, or does it also protect the rights of crores of small traders, shopkeepers, street vendors and working families whose livelihood depends on their daily earnings? Political leaders cannot ignore the rights of others while using the provisions of the Constitution as per their convenience. Earlier, 60 Youth Congress leaders were suspended for not arriving at Rahul Gandhi’s rally.
