Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inducted three naval platforms – INS Agray, INS Modhikari and INS Dunagiri – into the Indian Navy. With their induction, these ships formally became part of the operational fleet of the Indian Navy. This will further strengthen the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy. PM Modi participated in the commissioning ceremony at a port in Kolkata.

On this occasion, Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan said, ‘I heartily congratulate the dedicated GRAC team on this achievement of commissioning three ships simultaneously today. I also express my gratitude to our industry partners and MSMEs, whose cooperation has made this success possible. Naval Headquarters, Command Headquarters, Warship Overseeing Teams and trial agencies also deserve to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication from the very beginning in the construction of these three ships.
New impetus to modernity, self-reliance and self-confidence
He said, ‘Just 17 months after independent India’s first ‘tri-commissioning’ (commissioning of three ships simultaneously) by the Prime Minister in Mumbai last year, this second ‘tri-commissioning’ in Kolkata today provides a new impetus to modernity, self-reliance and confidence in India’s warship building capabilities. I am happy to tell you that these three projects have also established many new milestones.
