As soon as General Dheeraj Seth took over as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, he made it clear in his first address that the direction of the Indian Army will now move forward on the mantra of “JAI to VIJAY”. Starting his maiden address with “Jai Hind”, General Seth said it was a moment of pride and humility for him. Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister, he said that he will discharge this responsibility with full devotion to the principles of Duty, Honor and Nation First. He paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice in defense of the nation and said that their courage and dedication will continue to inspire the coming generations.
What did the new army chief say?
New Army Chief Dheeraj Seth said that the Indian Army is a combat ready and battle hardened force, which is capable of facing every challenge. In view of the changing security environment, special emphasis will be laid on modernization of the Army and adoption of state-of-the-art technologies, so that a Technology Enabled Future-Ready Army can be prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

General Seth presented his vision in a special thread titled ‘VIJAY’, which contains the future priorities of the Army.
V – Vigilance: Maintaining a high level of operational readiness by continuously monitoring borders and emerging threats.
I – Innovation and Transformation: To promote innovation in combat principles and technical solutions and to make necessary changes in the Army in accordance with the changing battlefield.
J – Jointness and Integration: To establish better coordination between Army, Air and Navy and contribute to national security and the goal of Developed India 2047 through Military-Civil Fusion and Whole of Nation Approach.
A – Atmanirbharta (Self-reliance): To create a self-reliant army through indigenous technology and defense systems. Their goal will be—“Victory in the war with indigenous solutions.”
Y – Yodha First: To give top priority to the training, technical proficiency, welfare and empowerment of every warrior, from Agniveer to ex-servicemen and brave women.

General Dheeraj Seth also paid tribute to the contribution of former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and all former Army Chiefs. He assured the countrymen that the Indian Army is fully prepared at all times to protect the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests. In the end, he described the basic mantra given by the Prime Minister “JAI” as the foundation of his priorities “VIJAY” and said that the new motto of the Indian Army will be “JAI to VIJAY”.
