There is a meeting of the opposition alliance INDIA Block in New Delhi today i.e. on Monday. About 23 political parties have been claimed to participate in this meeting. However, actor Vijay’s party TVK, which recently made a big splash in Tamil Nadu politics, has not received the invitation for this meeting.
According to sources, there is still suspense on whether TVK will participate in this meeting to be held in the Constitution Club of Delhi or not. The alliance can take a final decision on this today.
Why did TVK not get the invitation?
TVK’s ally Congress in Tamil Nadu has given clarification on this matter. Congress says that the political parties which currently do not have a single MP in the Parliament, have not been invited to this meeting. Since TVK is a new party and does not have any MP yet, it was not invited. After winning the assembly elections, TVK also gave its only vacant Rajya Sabha seat to Congress to strengthen the alliance.
Who all participated?
- Big stalwarts like Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav are present in this meeting.
- Uddhav Thackeray, Aditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut are not coming to Delhi, but they are part of the meeting through video conferencing.
- Supriya Sule has attended the meeting on behalf of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).
- Tamil Nadu’s biggest party DMK has flatly refused to attend this meeting.
Why is DMK angry?
At the same time, DMK had to face defeat in the recent assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. After this, Congress left DMK and joined hands with Vijay’s party TVK and formed the government in the state. Angered by this move of Congress, DMK called it a “betrayal” and INDIA walked out of the alliance. The DMK has vowed that it will not attend any meeting of the opposition alliance in future.
