Rajat Sharma’s Blog | SIR: Now will fingers be pointed at the Supreme Court also?

10 Min Read

The Supreme Court has clarified many things regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR). First during the Bihar elections and then during the Bengal elections, fierce attacks were made on the Election Commission regarding SIR. The Election Commission was called ‘sold out’, ‘BJP’s middleman’, ‘puppet of the Central Government’ and many other things, but after the Supreme Court’s verdict on Wednesday, the leaders of the opposition INDIA alliance got wind of the snake.

The Supreme Court said that the process of SIR is completely constitutional, purification of the voter list is necessary to conduct free and fair elections and it is the responsibility of the Commission. Therefore, by getting SIR done, the Commission has discharged its constitutional responsibility. The Supreme Court also clarified that the Election Commission cannot decide on citizenship and SIR has nothing to do with citizenship. Since it was repeatedly alleged that the Election Commission is deleting names of people from the voter list on a large scale on the pretext of SIR, this is a conspiracy to defeat the opposition parties in the elections, but the Supreme Court said that those whose names were deleted from the voter list were given full opportunity, the Election Commission deleted names from the voter list only within the ambit of the rules.

BJP called the Supreme Court’s decision a slap on the face of Congress. The bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi said in its decision that SIR is necessary to maintain the credibility of the voter list. Here let me tell you that after listening to the things told by the Bangladeshis sitting at Hakimpur border check post of India-Bangladesh, it becomes clear why SIR was necessary. Bangladeshi infiltrators made shocking revelations, saying that they are Bangladeshi but used to vote in West Bengal, crossed the border and entered India but they also have Aadhaar card, PAN number, voter card.

When asked that if you have everything then why are you going back, you told that everything went wrong due to SIR, Kam’s name was removed from the voter list, now there is a fear of getting caught, hence under compulsion, they are returning to their country. Mahfuza Khatoon, a Bangladeshi woman, told that she voted for Mamata Banerjee’s party in the last several elections, she was also getting the benefits of all the government schemes in Bengal, but when the government changed in Bengal, the situation changed. Mahfuza Khatoon’s son Riazul Shaikh told that he turned 18 in 2024, in the same year his name was added to the voter list, he voted in the last Lok Sabha elections.

The surprising thing is that during SIR his name was not removed from the voter list. He also voted in the assembly elections last month. But his parents’ names have been removed from the voter list. In this way, dozens of families are currently gathered at Hakimpur border check post. If SIR had not happened, these infiltrators would have remained comfortably in our country.

The Supreme Court made it clear in its decision that through SIR, no one’s vote has been arbitrarily cut off nor can it be cut off. This means that Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of vote theft is fake. Mamata Banerjee’s statement that the Election Commission cuts votes at the behest of BJP proved wrong. On the contrary, it was proved that Trinamool Congress made voter cards of infiltrators who came from Bangladesh, Bangladeshis themselves told who made their Aadhaar and PAN cards and with the help of Mamata Banerjee’s party, they were able to reach other parts of the country. Now caught in SIR, the government has also changed in Bengal, hence they are returning back to their country.

How can anyone raise questions on SIR after hearing the Supreme Court’s decision and listening to Bangladeshis? The question is, whom will Rahul Gandhi hold responsible for his defeat? How will you answer the fact that SIR took place in Kerala also, how did Congress form the government there? Will questions be raised on the Supreme Court now? It would be better if constitutional institutions are not dragged into politics from both sides.

30 lakh women found fake in Bengal

One effect of SIR is visible on the border, the other effect is visible on West Bengal. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said that Mamata Banerjee’s government was giving benefits of government schemes to the infiltrators, giving them money to build houses, giving them Rs 1500 every month under the Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme, and giving free ration. On Wednesday, Subhendu Adhikari’s government released the application forms for Annapurna Yojana. Women will be able to fill this form from June 1 to August 30. Under this scheme, all women between the age of 25 years to 60 years will get Rs 3,000 every month. This money will be transferred directly to the bank account.

Shubhendu Adhikari revealed that under the Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme, money was being given to 30 lakh women whose names were removed from the voter list in SIR, most of them are Bangladeshis. Imagine how big a problem infiltrators are for our country, how they are taking advantage of our resources. Now it has only been found out that 30 lakh Bangladeshis were taking Rs 1500 every month under Lakshmi Bhandar Scheme, but dozens of schemes like free ration, free treatment, free house, widow pension, scholarship for students are run by the government. All these schemes are to help the poor of our country, but the infiltrators are taking away the rights of the poor.

This problem is not only of Bengal, infiltrators have spread all over the country and their number is so high that in many areas the demography has changed due to infiltrators. Therefore, Narendra Modi has formed a high level committee to consider the change in demography. It should be hoped that this committee will start work soon and there will be a full stop to the problem of infiltration.

Bakrid: Why did the controversy over sacrifice arise in Mumbai?

Before Bakrid, there was uproar in Ghatkopar and Goregaon of Mumbai. BMC had banned sacrifice in societies or in open spaces on Bakrid, but when some people reached the societies with sacrificial goats, a ruckus started. Most of the people in two societies were Muslims, so BMC gave permission for sacrifice in the society, but when the controversy escalated, BMC had to withdraw the permission. A shed was built for sacrificial goats in Ghatkopar’s Sagar Park Society, more than 30 goats were brought, but when Hindus protested, BMC withdrew the permission for sacrifice on Tuesday night.

In Azad Park Society of Gokuldham area of Goregaon, BMC had given permission to Muslims for sacrifice, but when the local councilor and society people protested, the permission was withdrawn here too. BMC Deputy Mayor said that 119 places have been earmarked for sacrifice and the sacrifice should be done only there.

Everyone knew that Eid was coming. It was also known that sacrifice is made on Bakrid, hence the place where the sacrifice could be made could have been decided in advance. Cancellation of permission or change of place at the last moment causes problems. It would have been better if some solution could have been found by talking beforehand. It is hoped that the festival of Eid will be celebrated happily and peacefully. Happy Eid to all. (Rajat Sharma)
