Major action by CBI in Reliance Communications loan fraud case, two senior officers arrested

CBI, taking major action in the alleged bank loan fraud case related to Reliance Communications, has arrested two senior officers of the company, D. Vishwanath and Anil Kalya. Both are accused of irregularities in loans worth thousands of crores of rupees taken from banks and misuse of funds. According to CBI, this case was registered on the complaint of State Bank of India.

SBI lost about Rs 2929 crore

It is alleged that due to the alleged fraud of Reliance Communications and its associated people, SBI alone suffered a loss of about Rs 2929 crore. At the same time, 17 government banks and financial institutions suffered a total loss of more than Rs 19,694 crore. Investigation has revealed that the company carried out suspicious transactions through shell companies and diverted funds by showing fake service transactions. CBI says that D. Vishwanath handled the banking operations of the company, while Anil Kalya played an active role in it. Both the accused will be presented in the court. The investigation of the case is still going on. Let us tell you that CBI has already registered cases in many cases related to Anil Ambani group.

Court sent two officers to ED custody

In another case, a Delhi court last Thursday sent former senior Reliance Anil Ambani Group officials Amitabh Jhunjhunwala and Amit Bapna to ED custody for five days in a money laundering case related to alleged bank loan fraud. According to PTI news, the court’s 24-page order said that during the investigation, the Enforcement Directorate has found evidence which indicates that the loan amount was allegedly transferred to shell companies which were controlled by the group.
