There is tremendous enthusiasm among the audience about Nitesh Tiwari’s grand and ambitious film ‘Ramayana’. Fans have been waiting for a long time to see the historic clash between Ranbir Kapoor (Lord Ram) and South superstar Yash (Raavan) on screen. However, cinema lovers who are eagerly waiting for this head-to-head clash will have to be a little more patient. Actually, this much awaited action and dramatic scene of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash has not been shot yet. Ranbir Kapoor revealed this during San Diego Comic-Con. He told that the shooting of the main and historical scenes between Lord Ram and Ravana is yet to be done.

Why have the scenes not been shot together yet?

Ranbir Kapoor clarified that he and Yash have not shared the screen space yet, because according to the structure of the story, the main conflict between Ram and Ravana comes in the latter half of the film. Ranbir said during the conversation, ‘Lord Ram and Ravana face each other at the end of the film or there could be a meeting scene in the middle. But we haven’t shot those parts yet. So we didn’t get a chance to work together. However, I have known Yash for a long time and have been a big fan of his work. I sincerely believe that to play a powerful character like Ravana, we needed an actor with aura, stardom and attitude like Yash.

‘Ramayana’ will be made in two parts, the first part will end on ‘cliffhanger’

During this discussion held on the global platform, director Nitish Tiwari also gave a big update regarding the structure of the film. He explained that the makers had planned from the beginning to make it a huge two-part franchise, as it is impossible to cover the great saga of Ramayana in a single film. Nitish Tiwari revealed that the first part of the film will end on a cliffhanger, which will immediately make the audience eager for the second part.

This is a saga that deserves two parts. It cannot be summed up in just one part. After much deliberation, we decided that it would be best to leave the first part at what point, so that the audience is eager to see Part 2 as soon as they leave the theatre. – Nitesh Tiwari, Director

Praise for Yash’s ‘Raavan’ avatar

Ranbir Kapoor highly praised Yash’s performance as Ravana. He said that Yash has presented the character of Ravana in a completely new and unique style, which will be quite different from the traditional image shown in cinema till now. According to Ranbir, “Yash has lived the character of Ravana with utmost swag, dignity and honesty. He has breathed new life into this character. For years we have been seeing the same clichéd form of Ravana, but this Ravana is not like that at all.”
