On the auspicious occasion of Shardiya Navratri fair, West Central Railway has given a big gift to the devotees visiting the famous Siddha Peeth Maa Sharda Dham (Maihar) of Madhya Pradesh. Keeping in mind the convenience of lakhs of devotees reaching Maihar from every corner of the country, Railways has provided temporary stoppage of 5-5 minutes to 9 pairs i.e. a total of 18 express and mail trains at Maihar Railway Station. This special arrangement has started from October 10, 2026 and will remain effective till the conclusion of Navratri fair.
Devotees visiting Maihar will get great relief
During Navratri festival, a large number of devotees from various states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand reach Maihar for darshan and worship of Maa Sharda. In such a situation, Railways has taken this step to ensure smooth and safe movement of passengers. With this special arrangement, now devotees coming from far-flung cities like Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Chennai and Bengaluru can get rid of the hassle of getting down at Katni or Satna station and changing taxis or other means.

Why is 5 minute special halt important?
Generally, the stoppage of express trains at any station is 2 minutes, but in view of the heavy crowd during Navratri, it has been increased to 5 minutes. This will provide adequate time to all the devotees, including the elderly, women and children, to deboard and board the train, thereby avoiding stampede or inconvenience.
