Audi India Brand Director Balbir Singh Dhillon said that the company’s strategy is based on 3 key pillars. These include focusing on customer needs, launching new products and expanding the dealership network.

Audi’s share in the luxury car market is about 8 percent

The company currently has about 8 percent share in the luxury car market. The German auto company also plans to launch more models in India by taking advantage of the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Through this, the company wants to test the demand and sales possibilities of these models in the Indian market before deciding on local manufacturing.

Company is considering launching battery electric car made at local level

Balbir Singh Dhillon said, “We are considering launching locally made battery electric cars. A decision in this regard is expected to be taken in the next few months. He said, “Our intention is to double our market share in the next 3-5 years. Our strategy of focusing on customers, launching new products and expanding our network is expected to help us achieve these goals.”

Audi will continue local manufacturing of its flagship models

According to Dhillon, brand director of Audi India, the proposed India-EU FTA may give the company an opportunity to bring new models to India at more competitive import duties and test their sales prospects. Dhillon said the company will continue to manufacture its flagship models locally, while increasing the number of models available to Indian customers through imports.

FTA likely to increase export opportunities for Indian auto industry

He also expressed the possibility of increased export opportunities for the Indian auto industry from the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement. He said, “This will also provide an opportunity to export cars. It is not necessary that Audi itself exports, but the Indian auto industry can benefit from it. Both sides are opening 95 percent of their respective markets.
