rideHailing service company Uber has given the facility to drivers to record videos of trips to settle disputes with passengers. Along with this, the company has also added more earning options for its approximately 20 lakh driver partners. A senior official of the company gave this information on Thursday.
Law enforcement agencies will be able to contact the company and get a copy of the recording.
Aditya Kapoor, director of delivery operations for Uber India and South Asia, said that law enforcement agencies can contact the company to obtain these videos. “To enhance security, we have introduced the ‘Record My Ride’ feature for drivers. These recordings will not be accessible to anyone, Uber, drivers or passengers,” he said.
He said that if after any incident the local law enforcement agency wants a copy of the recording, they can get it by writing to the company. Its objective is to increase the confidence of drivers, so that investigating agencies can get unbiased information in case any incident occurs during the trip.
Drivers will be able to cancel trips without any fine
According to the company, passengers will have the facility to choose the option of video recording in the Uber app. Under this security-related update, drivers will be able to report inappropriate messages and cancel trips without any penalty. They will also have access to emergency ambulance services.
Opportunity to earn more money by allowing pets in cabs
Uber has also added many options to increase the earnings of its drivers. These include expanding Uber bike service for intercity trips, earning more from commercial and private parcel delivery, and allowing pets in cabs to earn more money.
Aditya Kapoor said, “We have made the platform easier and more secure for the drivers. Along with this, they are also being given more earning opportunities. To make the earning easier, we have introduced ‘Earn First, Pay Later’. These passes are already available in the market. We have also made changes in the driver app to make it easier.”
Bike taxi will be available from Delhi to Meerut or Agra
He said that Uber bike service between cities has currently been started in some selected areas. Its aim is to give people traveling between Delhi and cities like Meerut or Agra the option of traveling by bike. Kapoor said this could benefit both drivers and passengers. He said that most of the company’s new services are currently available in select areas and will soon be launched across the country.
