Bombay High Court is closing for summer vacation from Saturday

Bombay High Court is closing for summer vacation from Saturday. This petition has been filed by 61 year old Suresh Patilkhede, resident of Thane. In this, a demand was also made to stop the trustee of the trust from passing or implementing any decision in the proposed meeting. The petition alleges that the prestigious public charitable trust is violating the 2025 amendment to the Maharashtra Public Trust Act, which places a cap on the number of ‘life trustees’.

Three trustees are working as ‘life trustees’

According to the amendment, if the basic documents of the trust do not allow for a permanent or lifetime trustee, the number of such trustees cannot exceed one-fourth of the total members. According to the petition, there are a total of 6 trustees in this trust, which include Jimmy Naval Tata, Jahangir HC Jahangir, Noel Naval Tata, Venu Srinivasan, Vijay Singh and Darius Khambatta. According to the petitioner, three of these trustees are serving as ‘life trustees’, which is contrary to the limit prescribed in law. The way has been cleared for the proposed board meeting of Sir Ratan Tata Trust after the Bombay High Court refused to hear the petition immediately. This important meeting is to be held today in Mumbai.
