Government While reorganizing NITI Aayog, it has appointed Ashok Kumar Lahiri as Vice Chairman and five full-time members. Among these, well-known economist K. V. Raju, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director M. Srinivas and Secretary, Department of Science and Technology Abhay Karandikar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the new full-time members, including Lahiri and scientist Gobardhan Das and former Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, all the best for their tenure.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated all the new members including Ashok Kumar Lahiri.

After the appointment, Lahiri met the Prime Minister on Saturday. Lahiri, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from West Bengal, has been a former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India and a member of the 15th Finance Commission. He is not a candidate in the ongoing assembly elections in the state.
