In Pakistan on Friday, the price of diesel has been reduced by Rs 135 per liter, while the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 12 (Pakistani Rupee). Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced the cut citing falling global oil prices. This information has been revealed by quoting Pakistani media company Geo TV. According to the news, in a televised address, Shehbaz Sharif said that the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 366 per liter and diesel at Rs 385 per liter, which will be effective from April 11.

Stormy hike was done earlier

A historic increase in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel was announced in Pakistan, days after the war broke out in the Middle East. Petrol was increased by 43 percent and diesel by 55 percent. Petrol price was increased by ₹137.23 per liter (42.7%), taking it from ₹321.17 to ₹458.41 per litre. Whereas the price of high-speed diesel was increased by ₹184.49 per liter (55%) from ₹335.86 to ₹520.35 per litre. The price of kerosene (kerosene) was also increased by ₹34.08 per litre, taking its price to ₹457.80 per litre.

Levy rates were also changed

The government had also changed petroleum levy rates to limit the rise in diesel prices. The levy on petrol was increased from ₹105 to ₹160 per litre, while on diesel it was reduced from ₹55 to nil. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik had described the decision as difficult, saying that its objective was to provide subsidy only to the neediest sections, maintain financial discipline and safeguard economic stability.

It was said by the government that motorcycle owners will be given a subsidy of ₹ 100 per liter, which will be applicable up to 20 liters in a month. Small farmers will get a one-time assistance of ₹1,500 per acre during the harvesting season. Intercity and freight transport will be given a subsidy of ₹100 per litre, which will be reviewed every month. Truck drivers will be given direct assistance of ₹70,000 per month.
