Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper batsman Urvil Patel, who made his mark with his stormy batting in the IPL, has now created a stir in the Ranji Trophy as well. In the match against Kerala, Urvil played the biggest innings of his first class career and scored a double century. He put Gujarat in a strong position by playing a brilliant inning of 210 runs. Thanks to his innings, Gujarat declared the innings after scoring 534 runs for 9 wickets in the first innings.
Urvil Patel had entered this match in excellent form. In the last group match against Maharashtra, he played an important inning of 96 runs, with the help of which Gujarat was successful in drawing the match. Even against Kerala, he maintained the same rhythm and did wonders with his bat.
Gujarat won the toss and chose to bat
Gujarat had a good start after winning the toss and coming to bat first. अभिषेक और आर्या देसाई ने पहले विकेट के लिए 116 रन जोड़े। This partnership was broken by MD Nidhish by dismissing Abhishek. After this Arya and Manan Hingarajia added 42 runs for the third wicket. However, by the time the team’s score reached 189 runs, five wickets had fallen and Gujarat’s innings looked to be in trouble. ऐसे समय में उर्विल पटेल ने मोर्चा संभाला। He pulled the team out of trouble by making a brilliant partnership of 179 runs for the sixth wicket with Vishal Jaiswal. इस साझेदारी ने गुजरात को मजबूत स्थिति में पहुंचा दिया।
Urvil Patel scored a double century
By the time the team’s score was 374 runs, seven wickets had fallen, but Urvil’s aggressive style continued. After this he added 78 runs for the eighth wicket with Amit Desai. Amit was out after scoring 36 runs, but Urvil held one end. He also made a partnership of 82 runs for the ninth wicket with Siddharth Desai. Ultimately Gujarat declared its first innings after scoring 534 runs for 9 wickets. Urvil played an important role in taking Gujarat’s score to a big level during his 210-run innings. Nedumankuzhi Basil took three wickets for Kerala. In reply, by the end of the day’s play, Kerala had scored 74 runs at the loss of three wickets in the first innings. Sachin Baby and captain Vishnu Vinod were present at the crease.
Urvil Patel was included in their team by Chennai Super Kings in May 2025 as a replacement for Vansh Bedi for Rs 30 lakh. He made his IPL debut on 7 May against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, even before coming to IPL, he had already earned recognition for his explosive batting in domestic cricket.
While playing for Gujarat in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he made headlines by scoring a century in just 28 balls against Tripura. So far he has played 10 matches for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He has 197 runs in his name in these matches. His average is 19.70 and strike rate is 205.21. इस दौरान उन्होंने एक अर्धशतक भी लगाया है।
