A police complaint has been lodged against Neha Bora of All India Students Association (AISA) in Delhi. This complaint has been made regarding his alleged statement regarding rape of women by priests in temples. Delhi High Court’s female lawyer Amita Sachdeva has submitted a formal complaint in this matter to the SHO at Sansad Marg police station in New Delhi. The complainant has objected to the statement and demanded an investigation and action as per law. Neha Bora has been in controversies many times before. Many cases are pending against him.
Bharatiya Janata Party has also targeted Neha Bora and Rahul Gandhi. Neha Bora’s recent statement and an old statement of Rahul Gandhi have both been shared by BJP on its social media platform X.
BJP said- insult to Sanatan Dharma
BJP wrote on Twitter, “Congress’s new poster girl Neha Bora is repeating in other words what Rahul Gandhi has said earlier. Her anti-Sanatan and anarchic thinking is becoming a threat to the entire country! Insult of Sanatan Dharma and attack on Hindu beliefs is her real identity.”
Allegation of affecting the image of religious community
At the same time, after reaching the police station, Amita Sachdeva alleged in her complaint that Neha Bora’s widespread statement regarding rape of women by priests in temples could tarnish the image of a religious community. He says that such statements send a wrong message to the society and besides hurting religious sentiments, social harmony can also be affected. The complainant has expressed apprehension that such statements may lead to increased animosity and tension between the two communities.
Freedom of expression is not unlimited: Complainant
Amita Sachdeva has also said in her complaint that the Indian Constitution gives every citizen the right to freedom of expression, but this right is not unlimited. While using it, social responsibility and respect for other communities should also be kept in mind. According to the complainant, it is important to keep the facts and circumstances in mind before making such blanket allegations about any community or religious group.
Demand for investigation and action raised
The complainant has asked Sansad Marg police station to investigate Neha Bora’s statement and find out whether her statement violates any law. Also, if the allegations are found true in the investigation, a demand has been made to take action under relevant legal provisions. At present this matter is related to the complaint given to the police. The action taken by the police on the basis of the complaint will be monitored.
