America’s left-arm female fast bowler Tara Norris will be seen playing for the Mumbai Indians team in next year’s Women’s Premier League. He has been included in the Mumbai team as part of a trade deal with the UP Warriors team. Tara Norris was earlier bought by UP Warriors for Rs 10 lakh and now she will join Mumbai Indians team for the same fee of Rs 10 lakh.
WPL issued press release regarding Tara Norris
WPL informed in its official press release that Tara Norris has got a place in the Mumbai Indians team at the old price of Rs 10 lakh. Norris created history in the WPL’s first auction as she was the first player to be sold from an associate country. He played for Delhi Capitals team in the first season of WPL and also made the record of becoming the first bowler to take five wicket haul in a single match in the history of the league.
MI has a chance to include five foreign players
With the arrival of Tara Norris in the team, Mumbai Indians (MI) will have the special advantage that they will be able to field five foreign players instead of four in their playing eleven during the match, because Norris is a player from an associate country. Moreover, Tara Norris is already associated with the MI franchise. This year she has played for the MI London team in The Hundred tournament, where she bowled in six matches and took four wickets at an excellent economy of 7.83.
This is only the second time in the history of WPL when a player has been sent from one team to another through trade. Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had traded England opener Danny Wyatt-Hodge to its team from UP Warriors just before the Women’s Premier League 2025 auction.
MI’s bowling became stronger with the arrival of Norris
The fast bowling of Mumbai Indians has become even stronger with the arrival of Tara Norris in the team, which apart from her includes players like Shabnam Ismail, Nate Siver-Brunt, Amanjot Kaur and Nicola Carey. So far, in four seasons of WPL, Mumbai Indians have won the title twice. With the inclusion of Norris in their squad, Mumbai Indians have completed the quota of all their foreign players for WPL 2027. Now the team will enter the auction to be held in Kochi on October 28 with a sum of Rs 90 lakh and there are still 6 spots vacant in their squad.
