Mayank Yadav: Lucknow Super Giants have got a big relief in the important match of IPL 2026. The team’s fast bowler Mayank Yadav, worth Rs 11 crore, has finally returned to the playing eleven after a long injury break. Mayank’s entry in the match being played against Rajasthan Royals at Ekana Stadium has strengthened the bowling attack of LSG.
Mayank Yadav has returned to professional cricket after being out of action for almost a year due to injury. In May last year, he suffered a lower back stress fracture, after which he was away from the field. Although, before the T20 World Cup, he had played some practice matches for India A against America and Namibia, but this is his first match in IPL 2026. Despite already getting the green signal from BCCI, LSG management did not take the risk of fielding him in a hurry.
Sensation created in IPL 2024
Mayank impressed everyone with his speed in IPL 2024. He showed his ability by taking 7 wickets in just 4 matches and caught everyone’s attention by bowling at a speed of more than 150 km/h. On the basis of this performance, he also got a chance to make T20I debut in Team India. However, injuries have continued to hamper his career and he was able to play only two matches in the 2025 season.
Despite this, Lucknow expressed confidence in him and retained him for Rs 11 crore. The team’s confidence in this young fast bowler from Delhi is clearly visible and now there are big expectations from him. In the match against Rajasthan, Mayank replaced Avesh Khan, while the team made another change by including Digvesh Rathi in place of Manimaran Siddharth.
Decision to bowl first after winning the toss
In the match, Lucknow won the toss and decided to bowl first. Captain Rishabh Pant admitted that the team has faced difficulty in winning at home this season, but he is seeing it as a challenge. Now all eyes will be on Mayank Yadav to see whether he can bring LSG back to the winning path with his speed and edge.
