Virat Kohli: Another golden chapter has been added to Virat Kohli’s IPL career. Virat Kohli has made such a record in his name, which is every player’s dream to achieve. The star batsman of Royal Challengers Bangalore has achieved the distinction of becoming the player who has played the most matches in IPL history, leaving behind legends like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma.

In the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, Kohli created a new history as soon as he entered the field. Actually, this is Virat Kohli’s 279th IPL match. With this he became the player who played the most matches in IPL. Earlier this record was jointly held in the name of Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Dhoni played a total of 278 matches for Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants between 2008 and 2025. Whereas Rohit Sharma participated in a total of 278 matches for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians.

Virat’s eyes are now set on playing 300 IPL matches next season.
