Cricket competition usually takes place between two teams, but sometimes it also happens when a single player overpowers the opposing team. The same was seen in the IPL match on Monday, when a fierce match was played between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans. In this match, Tilak Verma scored a tremendous century and played an important role in helping his team win.
Tilak Verma scored 101 runs on 45 balls
In T20 cricket, the top 3 batsmen have the most chances to complete their century, because they get more balls to play. But Tilak Verma came down very low on Monday and completed his century. Tilak came to bat at number 5 in this match. When he came to bat, the team was in trouble. Tilak played an unbeaten inning of 101 runs on just 45 balls. During this period, eight fours and 7 sixes came from his bat. His strike rate was 224.44. No other Mumbai batsman could even cross a half-century. After Tilak’s 101 runs, the highest score was of Naman Dheer, who scored 45 runs on 32 balls. However, these runs were enough for Gujarat Titans. The team could not defeat Verma.
Gujarat Titans team was out for 99 runs, could not play full 20 overs
When Gujarat Titans came out to chase the runs, they had to score 200 runs, but the team got bundled out for only 100 runs. Washington Sundar scored 26 runs on 17 balls for the team, which was the biggest contribution. The team could not even play its quota of 20 overs and was all out in just 15.5 overs. Gujarat Titans were not only prevented from scoring two points, but this defeat by 99 runs has also spoiled their net run rate, which may prove costly for them in the coming days.
Tilak Verma did wonders for Mumbai Indians
This is the first time in the history of IPL that the opposing team has lost to a Mumbai Indians batsman. Tilak Verma scored 101 runs and Gujarat Titans team could only score 100 runs, that is, leave aside the team, GT’s team lost even to Tilak by one run. No player had done such a feat for Mumbai Indians before. However, Tilak is the ninth player to do so in the history of the Indian Premier League. That means this has happened eight times before. Earlier this work was done in IPL in the year 2020 i.e. six years ago. Then, while playing for Punjab Kings, KL Rahul had scored unbeaten 109 runs and the RCB team could not defeat Rahul.
