method of making
step 1: First of all, wash the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 2-3 hours. After this, add light salt and boil it, so that the lentils get melted but do not become too mushy. Remove all the extra water from the dal.
Step 2: After this, add boiled masoor dal and boiled mashed potatoes in a big bowl. Now add finely chopped onion, green chilli, ginger-garlic paste and green coriander.
Step 3: After this, add red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, chaat masala and salt as per taste in the mixture. Add bread crumbs or roasted gram flour for crispy texture and good binding. Mix all the ingredients well with hands and prepare a dough.
Step 4: Now apply some oil on your hands, take a small portion of the mixture, give it a round shape and press it between the palms to give it the shape of a tikki. Similarly prepare tikkis from all the mixture.
Step 5: Now heat a non-stick pan or griddle on medium flame and apply some oil or ghee on it. Place the tikkis in the pan and cook well on medium flame until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
Step 6: Your hot, crispy and healthy masoor dal tikkis are ready. Serve it for breakfast with green coriander-mint chutney, sweet-sour tamarind chutney or your favorite sauce. It is full of taste as well as health.
