Seven laborers have tragically died due to rock fall in a stone mine near Madapatna in the district. According to the information revealed, this accident happened on Thursday morning when the employees of Kaveri Company were working on a rock. At that time a crane was moving upwards, at the same time, suddenly a big rock fell downwards and fell on the workers working there.

Initial investigation regarding this incident has revealed that 15-20 laborers were working in the mine at the time of the accident. At that time a Hitachi machine was cleaning the area 100 feet above. The Hitachi driver was clearing space to install a new crusher. At that time, laborers were working below. It appears that the accident occurred because the Hitachi driver did not see the workers working below.
