Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has sold a record 1.26 crore laddus in the month of June. With this, all the old records of sale of laddus in the temple were broken. TTD on Friday said it made a record sale of 1.26 crore laddus in June 2026. Compared to June last year, six percent more laddus have been sold. In view of the increasing rush of pilgrims, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams increased the production of laddus to a large extent and ensured uninterrupted distribution of laddus without any shortage, a press release said.
“Selling 1.26 crore laddus in June 2026 is a major achievement. Compared to June 2025, 7.5 lakh more laddus were sold, resulting in an increase of 6.37 per cent in laddu sales,” the press release said.
24 lakh more laddus were sold compared to 2024
A significant increase was seen in the sales of laddus in June as compared to the previous three months. Compared to June 2024, sales of laddus increased by more than 24 lakh. If compared with two years old figures, there was an increase of 23.5 percent in the sale of laddus. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam sold more than 1.1 crore laddus in April 2026. After this, more than 1.2 crore laddus were sold in May 2026.
Ease of planning by TTD
The release said that with the continuous increase in the number of devotees visiting Tirumala, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is planning the production and distribution of laddus well, so that the devotees can get the holy prasad without any hassle.
Important agreement to improve the quality of Prasad
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has signed an agreement with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru (CSIR-CFTRI) to incorporate scientific standards into its food management system. Its aim is to ensure that all food items and offerings meet the highest quality and safety standards. According to the temple administration, this agreement will maintain the traditional specialty of TTD’s food and offerings while adhering to the highest standards of safety, nutrition and quality. The partnership focuses on strengthening safety and quality controls, modernizing systems, maintaining the traditional specialty of the offerings, building capacity and engaging experts.
Emphasis on these measures
Strict quality-control standards, standard operating procedures and monitoring systems will be developed and implemented for joint team procurement, preparation and delivery to strengthen safety and quality control. Under modernization of systems, CSIR-CFTRI will provide advice on upgrading storage, testing and procurement processes. It will also recommend scientifically proven technologies and best practices to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure consistency in quality. Research-based packaging and shelf-life extension measures will be developed for the preservation of Prasad to increase its stability and shelf life, while not compromising its traditional taste, texture and cultural significance.
