Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar will take oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka today (3 June 2026). Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony is today at 4:05 pm. Before this, the security arrangements of Bengaluru city have been tightened and traffic advisory was also issued to ensure that people do not face any problem. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the swearing-in ceremony to be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, where Congress flags and large banners bearing photographs of leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Shivakumar, AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala and outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have been put up around the Vidhana Soudha and Lok Bhavan premises.

- Anticipating heavy congestion in the Central Business District (CBD) area and around Race Course Road, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has announced special traffic arrangements from 12 noon to 8 pm on that day.
- All vehicular traffic, except those officially authorized for the event, will move from Kubban Road, KR Circle to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Race Course Road and roads leading to Lok Bhawan from Queens Junction and St. Mark Road will remain restricted.
- Vehicles have been advised to use alternative routes via Shivajinagar, Cunningham Road and Anil Kumble Junction to avoid delays.
- The traffic police has urged commuters to plan their journey in advance and cooperate with the authorities to ensure smooth traffic during the celebrations.
- Congress flags and banners have been installed on the route from Vidhan Soudha to Lok Bhawan, while LED screens have been installed at several places to broadcast the function.
- Tight security arrangements have been made around the venue and barricades have been installed on the roads leading to Lok Bhawan in anticipation of a huge crowd of supporters and party workers.

- Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that meetings have been held with senior officials and protocol officers regarding the guest list, venue and sequence of the program. “Based on these inputs, elaborate security arrangements have been made. Since it is an indoor event and seating capacity is limited, entry will be limited to invited guests only,” he told reporters.
- Singh said only authorized vehicles and visitor passes will be valid and special arrangements have been made for VIPs and dignitaries coming from outside the state. He further said, “Also, there is a possibility of crowding outside the venue, where LED screens have been installed to watch the programme.”
- The Commissioner said that necessary measures have been taken to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience in the area. He further informed that a traffic plan has been prepared and advisories have been issued regarding vehicular movement around the venue.
- According to Singh, the operation is being monitored by the Law and Order Branch, Traffic Branch and VVIP Security Branch, and personnel from various departments of the Bengaluru City Police have been deployed for security operations.
- He said passes for the program are being coordinated and issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR). Based on the information received by the police, security arrangements have been made for the entry of vehicles through designated gates. Sitting arrangements are also being made.
- The police command center will remain fully operational and the CCTV cameras installed around the venue will be monitored by senior officers. “Traffic will be monitored through the traffic management centre, while surveillance systems including AI-enabled cameras will be used to ensure safety and help prevent any untoward incident,” Singh said.
